Former Sweden striker Henrik Larsson has been appointed coach of Falkenbergs FF, who will make their Allsvenskan debut in 2014.
Hans Eklund, who led Falkenberg to promotion, has left for Kalmar FF, creating a vacancy for Larsson on a rolling one-year contract. Since ending his prolific playing days with Helsingborgs IF, Feyenoord, Celtic FC, FC Barcelona and Manchester United FC, Larsson coached Landskrona BoIS between 2010 and 2012, and worked as assistant at the club where he began his career, Högaborgs BK.
"When times get tough, that's when you show how good you are," said the 42-year-old Larsson, whose new side have also lost key players from their second-tier title campaign this year. "Of course it's a difficult assignment. But you've got two choices. Either you give up or just do what you have to. We choose to go on and believe in what we're doing."
