Juventus took themselves to the top in Serie A as second-half goals from summer recruits Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tévez sealed a 2-0 success at AS Livorno Calcio and made it five successive wins for the holders.
The Bianconeri knocked on the door during the first period but had to wait until the 63rd minute to find the breakthrough as Llorente converted Paul Pogba's cross at the near post, before the Spain striker laid on the second for Tévez to tap in. Reigning champions Juve thus end the weekend two points clear at the summit, although AS Roma will have a chance to return top when they host Cagliari Calcio on Monday.
Elsewhere, fourth-placed FC Internazionale Milano required Jonathan's second-half equaliser to draw 1-1 at Bologna FC, and ACF Fiorentina, in fifth, slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Udinese Calcio as Thomas Heurtaux got the only goal.
After eight games without a victory, Torino FC defeated Calcio Catania 4-1, with Omar El Kaddouri scoring two. US Sassuolo Calcio beat Atalanta BC 2-0 despite Luca Antei's red card and SS Lazio drew 1-1 at UC Sampdoria thanks to Lorik Cana's late leveller.
