Milan struggles go on, Napoli lose at home

Mario Balotelli had a penalty saved as AC Milan drew 1-1 at home with Genoa CFC, on a day when Parma FC also caused an upset, winning 1-0 at SSC Napoli.

Milan are now without a win in seven matches in all competitions, and have taken just three points from their last five league games, although they took the lead against the Grifone after just four minutes when Kakà sprang the offside trap and scored with an angled drive.

Genoa had not won at San Siro in Serie A since 1958, but quickly wiped out Milan's advantage. Urby Emanuelson felled Šime Vrsaljko, and Alberto Gilardino converted the penalty against his former club. Tomas Manfredini inadvertently returned the favour, conceding a spot kick and earning himself a red card for a foul on Balotelli. Uncharacteristcally, though, Balotelli fired his effort straight at Genoa keeper Mattia Perin and the game finished honours even.

Meanwhile, at San Paolo, Antonio Cassano's fifth goal of the season settled a tight match nine minutes from time. The forward picked out the far bottom corner in pinpoint fashion to both bring up his 100th Serie A strike and inflict back-to-back Serie A defeats on the Partenopei for the first time since December 2012.

Earlier, Dejan Lazarević lashed in a last-gasp goal to hand bottom club AC Chievo Verona a surprise victory away to high-flying neighbours Hellas Verona FC.
