Henrik Mkhitaryan scored his first Bundesliga goals to shape Borussia Dortmund's fourth successive league win, against Eintracht Frankfurt, and VfB Stuttgart scored six to overwhelm TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

Brought in over the summer to replace Mario Götze, Mkhitaryan proved he can fill the void admirably, scoring in each half against Frankfurt to extend Dortmund's perfect start on his third appearance for the club. It took him ten minutes to open his account with a composed, first-time finish, but any joy was put on hold as Vaclav Kadlec broke his own duck for Frankfurt to level before the break.

Mkhitaryan and Dortmund were not to be denied, however, and the Armenia playmaker struck again in style in the second half, bursting across the edge of the box and rifling left-footed into the bottom-left corner – a goal fit to win any match.

On a day of firsts, Stuttgart recorded their maiden league win of the season, and in stunning fashion too. Vedad Ibišević hit a hat-trick and Alexandru Maxim scored twice after Antonio Rüdiger's (12) early opener, with Kevin Volland and Roberto Firmino responding in vain for Hoffenheim.
