KS Skënderbeu clinched their first Albanian Super Cup crown in dramatic fashion with a penalty shoot-out victory over KF Laçi after the match ended 1-1 with both sides down to ten men.
Reigning champions Skënderbeu were seeking to make amends for defeats in their last two Super Cup outings and they made the perfect start when Pero Pejić converted Leonit Abazi's sixth-minute cross. Their task of defending a narrow lead was seemingly made easier when Laçi defender Carls was sent off following a tackle on Mario Morina with 21 minutes remaining.
However, Stipe Buljan struck in the third minute of added time and Skënderbeu then had a man sent off themselves when Nurudeen Orelesi saw red two minutes later. Neither side managed to grab a winner in extra time and Skënderbeu held their nerve to run out 5-4 winners in the shoot-out.
