FC Porto secured their 20th Portuguese Super Cup courtesy of a 3-0 win against Vitória SC, first-half goals from Licá, Jackson Martínez and Lucho González doing the damage.
Porto were on the front foot from the off and there never looked any doubt that Paulo Fonseca would secure his maiden title with the club. Lucho crossed from the right after just four minutes and Licá applied the finish to put the Dragons in front. The Portuguese Liga title holders proceeded to take total control and doubled their lead when Jackson headed in Silvestre Varela's cross.
Another delivery from that same flank, this time from Jorge Fucile, produced Porto's third, Lucho finding the net on this occasion after Vitória goalkeeper Douglas had failed to clear. Though Porto remained dominant throughout the second half, their opponents stood firm to keep the scoreline to 3-0.
"It was a very good final from our point of view as we played well," said Fonseca. "We could have won by more but we have still boosted our confidence." Lucho added: "It was good for us to score early. We have won and it is very important to start the season with a title."
