Sweden's Schelin steals ahead in Golden Boot race

Sweden's Lotta Schelin holds a narrow lead over team-mate Nilla Fischer in the race for the adidas Golden Boot following the conclusion of the group stage.

Defender Fischer set the early pace, equalising in the hosts' opening 1-1 draw with Denmark before scoring twice as they dispatched Finland 5-0. Schelin hit back with a double of her own in that game and her goal in the 3-1 defeat of Italy put the forward ahead of Fischer due to a later assist for Josefine Öqvist.

Seven players are one goal adrift of the summit, while Eugénie Le Sommer takes up the Bronze Ball position with two assists to her name. Germany striker Célia Okoyino da Mbabi, whose double against Iceland complemented her 17 in qualifying, surpassed the previous goalscoring record for a UEFA Women's EURO campaign set by compatriot Patricia Brocker in 1995.
