It was a crazy game, especially at the end, but we deserved to win, although we had some problems in defence that we must correct. This team has to grow and a game like this will serve us well for the future. A 2-2 draw was not bad for us, but the team showed a lot of ambition. It was a very intense final [period].
This can help Spanish women's football. This game has to mark a before and after in Spanish women's football, especially considering that we are in the finals of a EURO and have achieved a positive result. Our goal was to qualify for the finals but to come here with enthusiasm and desire to get what we can. We will not give up on anything and we don't believe we're in the quarter-finals.
Hope Powell, England coach
It's very disappointing. To go behind and come back, and go behind again and then you're hanging on for dear life in the last few seconds. Then you lose the game. It's very crushing. But it is what it is. We've lost the game and we now need to move on.
It's a disappointing night for everybody. There's 11 players on the pitch, you can't just single out one player. I don't think we performed at all. Very nervous, certainly in the first half.
It felt like we didn't get out of first gear. Too many unforced errors, our touch was off... that said, I think you have to give credit to Spain. They're a highly technical side, we knew that. I thought they worked very hard and probably on the night deserved winners.
In the last few years [Spain] have progressed. They have drawn with Germany and that's a big confidence booster, so they come into the tournament and they are probably not expected to progress and they've done tremendously well. That said, we didn't perform today. At this level if you don't perform you get punished.
[The players] were distraught and rightly so. They've just lost an important game. We've got to dig ourselves out of a hole and we've got to go again.
