It was a hard job against a good Dutch team. In the first half, we were compact, though there was a lack of precision in our play. In the second half, it was a little bit funny as sometimes they had the better of the game, and we had opportunities too. I think a draw was a fair result.
You have to give credit to the Dutch. They played very cleverly and put a lot of pressure on our players. Sometimes our players took the wrong decisions, held on to the ball too long, received the ball when they were standing instead of taking it when moving, didn't shoot when they could have. These things, taken together, mean that we drew this game.
We musn't look at everything negatively as there were some good things but I'll definitely show the players some incidents from the game. We'll try to make the perfect analysis, and we'll brief them about the Iceland team so that we're perfectly prepared. All the teams in the group have a point so there is no reason to panic or feel bad.
Roger Reijners, Netherlands coach
Having said before I'd be happy with a draw then you've got to be happy, but when you actually see the game then maybe we would have deserved three points. But anyway, I was happy with my team's performance. That is what we want and that was good to see.
I think the key was that we were very strong ourselves when we were in possession. I saw already in the first half that we really looked good technically and we created some chances and then in the second half it got even better.
It would not be fair [to pick a player out]. I think the team played well and everybody did really well in their position.
I was asked if it was a problem that we had to start against Germany and I said that it's no problem because it's all about three games and going through so it's no problem. We're now looking towards the next game.
