Article body
The Colovray Stadium in Nyon, opposite UEFA's House of European Football, hosts the FIFPro Tournament Central Europe on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 July – with the aim of helping professional footballers to find new clubs.
The event, being held under the auspices of the Swiss players' union SAFP and the world players' union FIFPro, has the objective of giving those who are out of contract the opportunity to find and join a new club for the 2013/14 season.
Five 18-man squads comprising out-of-contract players are taking part in the competition – Bulgaria, Greece, Slovenia, Serbia and Switzerland. The five teams are representing their respective national players' unions.
Scouts, technical directors and officials are invited to come to the event to watch the 90 players during five matches on 6 July and five fixtures the following day. Each side will play four games over the course of the weekend.
There will be VIP access for club representatives as well as catering facilities beside the pitch, offering a direct view of the matches.
FIFPro, with whom UEFA works together on issues of mutual interest, has been organising the FIFPro tournament to help out-of-contract footballers since 2005, and a considerable number of players have joined new clubs as a result of the tournament.
