FC Admira Wacker Mödling have confirmed former Austria striker Toni Polster as their new coach, replacing Dietmar Kühbauer.
The role is the 49-year-old's first in the top flight, with Polster having previously coached at SC Wiener Viktoria, whom he guided from the fifth to the third tier of the Austrian football hierarchy. He takes command of a side that finished level on Bundesliga points with relegated SV Mattersburg, surviving thanks to their superior goal difference.
"Admira have a long tradition of producing good young players. We want to continue along that path. We want to play attractive football of course, but the balance has to be right," said Polster after accepting the job.
The two-time Austrian player of the year hit 44 international goals in 95 appearances, and enjoyed prolific spells at FK Austria Wien, Sevilla FC and 1. FC Köln among others. "My goal has always been to train a Bundesliga club, it is where I belong," he added.
