Former Italy striker Fabrizio Ravanelli has voted to use his playing experience after being appointed coach of Ligue 1 side AC Ajaccio.

Ravanelli has left his role as Juventus youth coach along with assistant Giampiero Ventrone to join Ajaccio, who avoided relegation by three points. Having won the UEFA Champions League with Juventus and been capped 22 times in a hugely successful playing career, Ravanelli spent two years in France with Olympique de Marseille between 1997 and 1999, when they reached the UEFA Cup final.

"Even if I do not have much coaching experience, I have my playing experience," Ravenelli said. "There is no need to practice for 15 years to be a good coach, as Vincenzo Montella and Antonio Conte have demonstrated. With my enthusiasm and professionalism, I hope to do a good job in Ajaccio.

"I had other offers but I chose Ajaccio because I know the language, I know the French championship and I hope that this club will allow me to launch a successful coaching career. Only what happens on the pitch will decide."
