Luis Alberto has declared himself the "happiest man on earth" after signing a long-term deal with Liverpool FC.
The 20-year-old arrived at Anfield from Sevilla FC for a fee believed to be in the region of €8m. The forward spent last season on loan at FC Barcelona's reserve team but the Liga champions opted not to take up their option on the Spain Under-21 international, allowing Liverpool to step in. "He has the correct footballing profile and mentality to be a Liverpool player," said Reds manager Brendan Rodgers. "I look forward to working with him to develop his talent."
Alberto, who made just seven first-team appearances for Sevilla, said it was "a dream move". He added: "I came to the club because of the manager; I came here because of the style of football he plays. I don't have a favourite position - it depends on the team's tactics really. I like to move about and I don't mind where I play. I like to play with freedom. I'm a technical player. I provide assists and in the penalty area I score goals."
He played 38 times for Barcelona B last season, scoring 11 goals.
