CS Fola Esch have been crowned champions of Luxembourg with one match still to play following a 5-1 derby win against AS Jeunesse Esch. The Division Nationale title is the sixth in the club's history but their first since 1930.
Fola are four points clear of F91 Dudelange, who triumphed 4-0 at relegated CS Pétange, going into the season finale on Sunday. A second 5-1 victory in succession for the leaders seemed unlikely with the score only 2-0 at half-time, Julien Hornuss and Stefano Bensi the men on target, but full-back Tom Laterza, striker Jakob Dallevedove and another Bensi strike gave the scoreline a resounding appearance.
Founded in 1906, Fola dropped as low as the third tier and only returned to the top flight in 2008. Having competed in the UEFA Europa League earlier this term, losing 5-1 on aggregate to IF Elfsborg in the first qualifying round, they will take their place in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in 2013/14.
