Manchester City FC will take on Wigan Athletic FC in this season's FA Cup final after Roberto Mancini's men eliminated holders Chelsea FC with a 2-1 win at Wembley Stadium.
The Manchester club dominated the first half and took the lead ten minutes before the break when Samir Nasri smashed the ball past Petr Čech from close range. City started the second half as they ended the first and were rewarded when Sergio Agüero evaded the attention of Branislav Ivanović to head Gareth Barry's cross into the top right-hand corner.
Chelsea rallied, though, and got back into the game through Demba Ba's excellent 66th-minute strike. The Blues were in the ascendency and came close to an equaliser, only for another Ba effort to be well saved by Costel Pantilimon. City passed up a number of opportunities to put the result beyond doubt on the counterattack and, although Chelsea piled on the pressure in the closing stages, Mancini's charges held on.
City will face Wigan in the final on 11 May after Roberto Martínez's side beat Millwall FC 2-0 in Saturday's semi-final. Goals in each half from Shaun Maloney and Callum McManaman were enough for the Premier League side to ease past their second-tier opponents and reach the FA Cup final for the first time in the club's history.
