Germany earn comeback win against France

Thomas Müller and Sami Khedira scored second-half goals as Germany came from behind to post a 2-1 victory against France in Paris. 

A 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying Group I draw with Spain, followed by a 2-1 friendly success in Italy, had given Didier Deschamps' side reason to believe they could claim another positive result. Mathieu Valbuena instilled further confidence with a 41st-minute opener, before Müller (51) and Khedira (74) turned the game on its head. 

On the back foot for long stretches, it was the visitors who nonetheless showed early promise, as Mesut Özil stung the fingertips of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. FC Bayern München winger Franck Ribéry sparked Les Bleus into life with a series of mazy runs and Germany's resolve was broken when Valbuena nodded in after Karim Benzema's free-kick had come back off the bar.

Joy turned to despair six minutes after the restart, however, as substitute Étienne Capoue conceded possession to İlkay Gündoğan and Müller steered in the finish. The home team wrested back the initiative, before being hit with a sucker punch as Real Madrid CF schemers Khedira and Özil combined with the latter slipping the ball past Lloris. France's response was immediate but Joachim Löw's side weathered the storm to earn a first victory over Les Bleus since 1987.
