Former Valencia CF and FC Spartak Moskva coach Unai Emery will take charge of Sevilla FC until June 2014 after the Rojiblancos parted company with Míchel.
Former Real Madrid CF midfielder Míchel arrived at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán in February last year having enjoyed previous coaching experience with Rayo Vallecano de Madrid, Real Madrid Castilla and Getafe CF, who he led to a record sixth-placed Liga finish in 2009/10.
After steering Sevilla to ninth last term, the former Spanish international has overseen just two victories in the club's last 11 league outings. The 2006 and 2007 UEFA Cup winners therefore moved to offer Emery the opportunity to return to Spain following a disappointing six-month stint at Spartak.
Emery, 41, enjoyed successful spells as coach of Lorca Deportiva CF and UD Almería before taking up the reins at Valencia. In four seasons at Mestalla he guided the club to third place on two occasions, in 2009/10 and 2010/11. The former midfielder's first game in charge of Sevilla will be Wednesday's Copa del Rey quarter-final first leg at Real Zaragoza.
