Former FC BATE Borisov midfielder Renan Bressan, who last month agreed a switch to FC Alania Vladikavkaz, has been named as Belarusian player of the year in a poll conducted by leading sports newspaper Pressball.
"I would like to thank everyone who contributed to my success, but I won't name them personally," said the 24-year-old Brazilian-born player. "I could forget some of them and that would be a shame. Thanks to FC Gomel, where I started my career in Belarus. Thanks also to BATE. My heart belongs in Belarus."
Two more BATE players, Andrei Gorbunov and Vitali Rodionov, were named as best goalkeeper and forward respectively. The honour of best defender, meanwhile, went to Nikolai Kashevski of Gomel, while FC Dinamo Minsk's Stanislav Dragun was chosen as the best midfielder.
