The points were shared in Bavaria as Borussia Dortmund recovered from a goal down to draw with Bundesliga leaders FC Bayern München.
Toni Kroos (67) opened the scoring for the hosts when he wriggled inside the challenge of Mats Hummels and Nevan Subotić and drilled a left-footed shot across Roman Weidenfeller from the edge of the penalty area. The advantage lasted a mere seven minutes, though. A corner was flicked on by a Bayern head to the unmarked Mario Götze, who struck through a throng of bodies.
Coach Jupp Heynckes's disappointment at seeing his side surrender the initiative will be compounded by what appeared to be a serious knee injury to Holger Badstuber in the first half. Bayer 04 Leverkusen – who moved above Dortmund into second place in midweek − had trimmed Bayern's lead to seven points earlier in the day with a 1-0 home win against 1. FC Nürnberg, Steffan Kiessling rifling in before half-time.
Schalke, meanwhile, drew 1-1 with VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach in Gelsenkirchen and remain in fourth, 13 points off the pace. On Friday, fifth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt lost 4-0 at Fortuna Düsseldorf 1895. Elsewhere, there were victories for 1. FSV Mainz 05 and VfB Stuttgart, and FC Augsburg against SC Freiburg finished 1-1.
