Antonio Cassano and Rodrigo Palacio struck the goals as FC Internazionale Milano kept themselves close to the Serie A summit with a fourth consecutive league win, beating Calcio Catania 2-0.
The victory cemented Andrea Stramaccioni's side in fourth spot, four points behind leaders Juventus – who earned a decisive 2-0 success against second-placed SSC Napoli on Saturday. Cassano headed in Esteban Cambiasso's cross at the back post in the 28th minute, before Palacio's superb volley sealed the points for the Nerazzurri with five minutes remaining.
Elsewhere, AS Roma produced a stirring comeback to take all three points at Genoa CFC. The hosts found themselves two up after just 15 minutes, but a Pablo Osvaldo double and goals from Francesco Totti and Erik Lamela earned the points for the Giallorossi.
Udinese Calcio earned only their second win of the season at home to Pescara, making light of Danilo's first-half dismissal to prevail 1-0 thanks to Maicosuel's close-range effort. As for Parma FC, they inflicted a third straight defeat on ten-man UC Sampdoria as Amauri struck either side of the interval – his first from the spot – to clinch a 2-1 win and a first success in six for the hosts.
Giacomo Bonaventura scored the winner as Atalanta BC defeated bottom club AC Siena 2-1 to climb up to 13th, while Cagliari Calcio jumped above Bologna FC thanks to a 1-0 home win against the Rossoblù. AC Chievo Verona drew 1-1 with ACF Fiorentina, and the match between struggling US Città di Palermo and Torino FC ended goalless.
