FC Bayern München continued their perfect start in the Bundesliga with a 2-0 win at FC Schalke 04, while Borussia Dortmund finished on the wrong end of a five-goal thriller at Hamburger SV.

Bayern had cruised to three straight wins already this season, scoring 12 goals in the process, and were again in fine form against Schalke. Two well-taken goals in three minutes shortly after half-time, from Toni Kroos and Thomas Müller, ensured Jupp Heynckes' side remain at the summit.

Bayern's win also opened up an early five-point lead over champions Dortmund, who slipped to a 3-2 reverse at Hamburg. Son Heung-Min gave the hosts an early lead, which was cancelled out by Ivan Perišić just after half-time. Ivo Iličević restored the hosts' advantage, which Son then doubled with an 18-metre curler. Though Perišić knocked in his second of the match, Dortmund suffered their first defeat in 31 league matches.

Goals from Erwin Hoffer and Takashi Inui earned Eintracht Frankfurt a 2-1 win at 1. FC Nürnberg on Friday evening, extending their 100% record.
