Tottenham Hotspur FC have clinched their first Premier League win this season after Jermain Defoe struck twice in a 3-1 triumph at Reading FC.
André Villas-Boas's men could only manage two draws and a defeat in their opening three fixtures but are up and running thanks to a comprehensive victory at promoted Reading.
Defoe broke the deadlock with 18 minutes gone as he buried low into the far corner from Aaron Lennon's pass, and the England striker scored an excellent second with 16 minutes to go, shortly after Gareth Bale had put the finishing touch to a fine run and cutback from Kyle Walker.
Reading mustered a consolation when Hal Robson-Kanu hooked in an Adam Le Fondre cross at the back post, but it was not enough for Brian McDermott's side, who have just one point after three outings.
