Newly-appointed Sweden coach Pia Sundhage will lead the UEFA Women's EURO 2013 hosts for the first time on 23 October they welcome Switzerland to Vaxjo for a friendly.
Sundhage ended her double Olympic gold medal-winning spell in charge of the United States last week with a 6-2 win against Australia to take up the post in her home country as Thomas Dennerby's successor. Her bow will come against Switzerland at the Öster Arena, opened earlier this month, which will be one of the venues for the final tournament next year.
"I'm longing to meet the players and get to know them – and to meet the Swedish fans," Sundhage said. "To get to do it at a newly-built arena suits us now that we're building something new for the Women's EURO in Sweden in July 2013."
The last time the teams met was in 2004, when Sweden won 2-0 in Switzerland, who have failed to qualify next year's tournament. Dennerby's final match in charge on 15 September resulted in a 2-1 defeat of the Netherlands in Gothenburg.
