Ola Toivonen scored twice as PSV Eindhoven beat AFC Ajax 4-2 to claim the Dutch Super Cup.
PSV were the better side from the off and went in front after just three minutes, Toivonen heading in from a Dries Mertens corner. They doubled that lead on 11 minutes thanks to Jeremain Lens' lob, but Eredivisie title holders Ajax struck themselves when Toby Alderweireld met Theo Janssen's corner with his head just before the interval.
Toivonen, though, restored PSV's two-goal cushion eight minutes into the second half when he turned in a Jetro Willems cross. Ajax again clawed their way back into contention by virtue of Marcelo's own goal, but Georginio Wijnaldum's lob in added time rubber-stamped victory for Dick Advocaat's team.
"We were not in any trouble in this match at all," said the PSV coach. "We played excellently in certain phases of the match. I heard someone say this is the 17th trophy in my coaching career. Actually I do not know for sure myself. We go for all the trophies, and this one is also important to us because it is a real bonus ahead of next week."
PSV open their 2012/13 Eredivisie campaign against RKC Waalwijk on Saturday.
