Slovakia maintained their push for second place in UEFA Women's EURO 2013 qualifying Group 5 with a comfortable victory in Estonia.
Visiting goalkeeper Maria Korenčiová was pretty much a spectator after fielding a couple of half-chances in the first half, with Dana Fecková tormenting the Estonia defence from the left. Slovakia went ahead on 24 minutes, with Dominika Škorvánková dribbling into the danger area before laying the ball off for Patrícia Hmírová to score.
Zsolt Pakusza's team made it 2-0 just after the break. Estonia goalkeeper Getter Laar was caught in two minds as the ball fell free on the edge of the area, and Škorvánková pounced to seize possession and score. Estonia rallied a little, and Signy Aarna and Kaire Palmaru tried their luck with shots on goal, but of more concern was Estonia coach Keith Boanas, who required medical treatment during the second half.
Slovakia are level on points with third-ranked Ukraine and fourth-ranked Belarus, who they visit in their final game on 19 September. Victory would take Slovakia to the play-offs provided Ukraine do not win either of their remaining games in Belarus and Finland. Estonia will look to avoid an eighth successive Group 5 defeat when they host section leaders Finland on 15 September.
