Cup winners SK Sigma Olomouc won their first ever Czech Super Cup after defeating league champions FC Slovan Liberec 2-0.
The decisive moments came in the first half with Martin Doležal scoring the opening goal in the 24th minute with a precise header from Jan Schulmeister's left-wing cross. Three minutes later, forward Michal Ordoš added the second by converting a penalty.
Jaroslav Šilhavý's men had more possession in the second half but failed to create clear-cut chances against a well-organised Olomouc defence and suffered defeat ahead of their next UEFA Champions League assignment. Liberec travel to Kazakh champions FC Shakhter Karagandy in the second qualifying round second leg with a 1-0 advantage.
The Super Cup is the second trophy in Sigma's long history and the victory was also the first win for new Slovakian coach Roman Pivarník in his maiden competitive game in charge.
"So far the Czech Super Cup has only been won by the league champions, so it was an extra motivation for us to be the first cup winners to claim the trophy," said Pivarník. "I am glad we have managed to win against such a strong opponent. We secured our win in the first half with two goals while the second half was more about our tactical approach."
