PSG turn up pressure on leaders Montpellier

Paris Saint-Germain FC kept alive their prospects of a first Ligue 1 title since 1994 after a routine 2-0 victory against AS Saint-Étienne moved them to within three points of leaders Montpellier Hérault SC, with three games remaining.

Buoyed by Montpellier's 2-2 draw against Évian Thonon Gaillard FC on Tuesday, the capital club had further reason to celebrate when Nenê converted a 21st-minute penalty, his 17th league goal of the season. And with the visitors pressing for an equaliser, Javier Pastore sealed Les Verts' fate two minutes from time, following a neat centre from Christophe Jallet.

Two points back are third-placed LOSC Lille Métropole after recording their fourth consecutive success at OGC Nice, thanks to Túlio De Melo's solitary strike. Meanwhile, Stade Rennais FC suffered a 2-0 reverse at FC Girondins de Bordeaux to surrender fourth place to Olympique Lyonnais, who defeated Valenciennes FC 4-1. 

Loïc Rémy ensured Olympique de Marseille won for the first time in 12 Ligue 1 outings, as they beat AS Nancy-Lorraine 1-0. AC Ajaccio moved three points clear of the drop zone after earning a 2-1 victory against FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, while SM Caen triumphed 1-0 against FC Lorient. Elsewhere, Stade Brestois 29 drew 0-0 with Toulouse FC
