Valletta FC have been crowned Maltese champions for the second consecutive season after defeating Sliema Wanderers FC 3-0 at Ta' Qali National Stadium.
The capital side needed only a point to wrap things up after second-placed Hibernians FC lost 2-0 to Birkirkara FC on Saturday, but they sealed the 21st title of their history in style in front of their supporters.
Denni put them ahead on 43 minutes and Malta captain Michael Mifsud added a second on the stroke of half-time, before Ousseni Zongo sealed matters nine minutes into the second half. With two games to go, Valletta lead Hibernians by nine points and can now look forward to entering UEFA Champions League qualifying next term.
"Winning a second Premier League title in a row means consistency and that we are still the best on the island," said midfielder Roderick Briffa, who has now won the championship four times, two of them with former club Birkirkara.
