Indriksons re-elected in Latvia

Guntis Indriksons, at the helm of the Latvian Football Federation for 16 years now, was re-elected for another four-year term at the LFF Congress in Riga on Friday. Latvian football has developed steadily since 1996, when he took up the position,

"It is a big honour to be re-elected once again," said Indriksons to UEFA.com. "I have tried to do my best for Latvian football's well-being during all these years and I think we have something to be proud of. However we never can be satisfied with what has already been achieved. We have many issues and we will do our best to solve these successfully."

Indriksons will pay considerable attention to grassroots and youth football development alongside the progress of the senior national team. "We have to care for our youth football, because our football will be deprived of the future without it," he said. "It is an essential part of my new spell at the helm of the LFF.

"Latvia is a small country and it takes huge efforts by a number of people to nurture even one single quality player," added Indriksons. "I want to thank all the people who give their souls and stay loyal to our football. I am aware of this and can't allow myself to work without full commitment."
