Leaders Montpellier Hérault SC were held 1-1 at Dijon FCO and third-placed LOSC Lille Métropole also failed to take advantage after surrendering a two-goal lead to draw at home with lowly AJ Auxerre.

On-loan Chelsea FC midfielder Gaël Kakuta made a dent in Montpellier's title challenge by giving Dijon the lead to surprise the Ligue 1 pacesetters (67). Though Jonathan Tinhan earned his side a crucial point two minutes from time, Montpellier can now be knocked off top spot if Paris Saint-Germain FC beat AC Ajaccio on Sunday.

Eden Hazard's tenth and eleventh goals of the season had given Lille a two-goal lead against Auxerre but Ben Sahar (80) and Cédric Hengbart (84) struck in the final ten minutes to secure a valuable point for the visitors. Elsewhere, Toulouse FC triumphed 1-0 at Olympique de Marseille to go level on points with fourth-placed AS Saint-Étienne who lost 2-0 at home to Évian Thonon Gaillard FC.

Elsewhere, AS Nancy-Lorraine edged clear of the relegation zone with a surprise 2-0 victory against Olympique Lyonnais courtesy of goals from Sébastien Puygrenier (66) and Djamel Bakar (75), OGC Nice followed suit with a 2-1 success at FC Girondins de Bordeaux and bottom-of-the-table FC Sochaux-Montbéliard drew 1-1 with Valenciennes FC.
