Liverpool FC got the better of Manchester United FC to reach the FA Cup fifth round, prevailing 2-1 at Anfield in the big north-west derby, while the honours in the west London face-off went to Chelsea FC.
Park Ji-Sung had cancelled out Daniel Agger's headed opener in the first half, and the tie looked to be heading towards a replay at Old Trafford until Dirk Kuyt made it 2-1 three minutes from time, latching on to an Andy Carroll flick to beat David de Gea at his near post. Kenny Dalglish's side have had a great week in knockout competitions, having eliminated Manchester City FC on Wednesday to reach the League Cup final.
Earlier, Juan Mata's penalty not long after the hour mark saw Chelsea get the better of their near neighbours Queens Park Rangers FC at Loftus Road, while on Friday, Tottenham Hotspur FC made it through with a 1-0 triumph at Watford FC, and Everton FC beat Fulham FC 2-1 at home in an all top-tier tie.
In Saturday's later games, Bolton Wanderers FC beat Swansea City FC 2-1, and Stoke City FC were 2-0 winners at Derby County FC. West Bromwich Albion FC lost 2-1 at home against Norwich City FC, while Newcastle United FC lost 1-0 at second-tier Brighton & Hove Albion FC.
