Paris Saint-Germain FC have signed Brazilian defender Maxwell from FC Barcelona for around €2.5m.
The left-back, 30, will have a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Ligue 1 leaders and becomes the first player to arrive at the Parc des Princes since the appointment last month of coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Maxwell enjoyed two and a half seasons in Barcelona's ranks after moving from FC Internazionale Milano in 2009. His three campaigns at San Siro were preceded by a five-year stay with AFC Ajax, who brought him to Europe in 2001 from Cruzeiro EC. He was voted player of the year in the Netherlands in 2004.
PSG sit three points clear of Montpellier Hérault SC at the top of the French standings, although they have been less successful in European competition this term after failing to qualify for the UEFA Europa League round of 32 before Christmas.
