The former president of the Scottish Football Association (SFA), William Dickie, has passed away at the age of 82.
Dickie was president of the Scottish association from the 1993/94 season to 1996/97. He was also a long-standing member of the SFA council, and his involvement with the association continued long beyond his term of presidency. In addition, he was chairman of Motherwell FC from 2003 to 2008, and was vice-chairman of the Premier League club at the time of his passing.
"He was a tremendously passionate and committed administrator of the game," said the current SFA president Campbell Ogilvie. "More importantly, he was a lover of Scottish football and a man who was respected by all for his integrity and professionalism, from fellow board members to players and staff. His passing will be a great loss to Scottish football."
William Dickie served as a member of the UEFA Committee for Non-Amateur Football from 1992 to 1998 – he was vice-chairman between 1996 and 1998 – and was a member of UEFA's transfer expert bodies from 1990 to 2000.
