UEFA Europa League contenders Club Atlético de Madrid have allowed José Antonio Reyes to return to Sevilla FC for a fee reported to be around €3.5m.
The 28-year-old winger has signed a contract until June 2015 with the club where he started his career before joining Arsenal FC in 2004. He won a league title and an FA Cup with the Gunners, and the Spanish championship in 2006/07 while on loan at Real Madrid CF.
In the summer of 2007 he moved to Atlético, helping them lift the 2009/10 UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup. However, he found first-team opportunities limited more recently under coach Gregorio Manzano and has chosen to return to Sevilla rather than try his luck under newly-appointed Atlético boss Diego Simeone.
Atlético face Simeone's old club, S.S. Lazio, in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 on 16 and 23 February. Sevilla are sixth in the Liga, four places and five points above Atlético.
