FC Barcelona and Valencia CF made light work of their Copa del Rey encounters, with the European club champions trouncing CE L'Hospitalet 9-0 and their Liga counterparts scoring four against Cádiz CF.

Barça showed no ill-effects from their long trip back from Japan, where they won the FIFA World Club Cup at the weekend, as they routed CE L'Hospitalet 9-0 to win the fourth round Copa del Rey encounter 10-0 on aggregate. Pedro Rodríguez set the ball rolling with a 12th-minute penalty before Andrés Iniesta (19), Thiago Alcántara (23, 55) Xavi Hernández (36), Tello (43, 64) and Isaac Cuenca (49, 81) all added to the goal spree.

The only negative for the Azulgrana was an injury to Iniesta that enforced his first-half substitution. Meanwhile, Valencia also enjoyed a free-scoring evening, racing into a three-goal lead at half-time thanks to strikes by Victor Ruíz (5), Jonas (27) and Roberto Soldado (41). Éver Banega completed the scoring midway through the second period as the UEFA Europa League hopefuls ended the year on a high note.
