US Lecce have parted company with coach Eusebio Di Francesco in the wake of Saturday's 4-2 Serie A defeat at SSC Napoli, replacing the 42-year-old with Serse Cosmi.
Di Francesco, capped 12 times as a midfielder by Italy while playing for AS Roma, took charge at Lecce this summer. Yet after two wins – and more tellingly nine defeats – in their opening 13 league games, his side lie at the foot of the Italian table with just eight points. He is the eighth Serie A coach to lose his job this season.
The 53-year-old Cosmi, has been unemployed since a five-week spell in charge at US Città di Palermo last season ended in April. He has previously coached AC Perugia, Genoa CFC, Udinese Calcio, Brescia Calcio and AS Livorno Calcio.
