After AC Milan and Udinese Calcio picked up impressive away wins on Friday and Saturday respectively, Juventus triumphed at home to AC Cesena to reclaim top spot in Serie A on Sunday.
The Bianconeri were frustrated in the first half, though, and it was not until the 72nd-minute that they made the breakthrough courtesy of Claudio Marchisio. Goalkeeper Francesco Antonioli was then sent off for the visitors before Arturo Vidal's penalty wrapped up the points seven minutes from time.
ACF Fiorentina were the day's other big winners at home to AS Roma. Spot kicks from Stevan Jovetić (17) and Santiago Silva (86) either side of Alessandro Gamberini's first goal of the campaign lifted the hosts up to tenth, one point adrift of their opponents in eighth.
Cagliari Calcio are level on points with Roma, but one place above them on goal difference, thanks to Victor Ibarbo's 64th-minute strike against Calcio Catania. Elsewhere, US Città di Palermo missed the chance to go joint fourth after being held to a goalless draw at Parma FC, Marco Di Vaio scored the only goal as Bologna FC picked up their fourth win of the season at home to AC Siena, and it finished goalless between AC Chievo Verona and Atalanta BC.
