Héctor Cúper has vacated his role as coach of Real Racing Club after only five months at the helm.
Appointed in June as a replacement for the Sevilla FC-bound Marcelino, Cúper leaves El Sardinero with Racing bottom of the Liga table after just one win in 13 matches. In a statement issued on the club's website, the 56-year-old said: "I would like to thank the club for the confidence they placed in me at the beginning of the season.
"I regret the current situation and the fact we could not gain more victories that would have brought a sense of calm," he added. "The results didn't come and the best thing now is that we part company. From the bottom of my heart I wish Racing the best and would like to say to the supporters that they will always have one more fan."
Cúper is held in high regard in European football for twice leading Valencia CF to the UEFA Champions League final and guiding RCD Mallorca to Copa del Rey and UEFA Cup Winners' Cup showpieces. Racing, who have accumulated nine points this term, next host Villarreal CF on Saturday.
