Paris Saint-Germain FC continue to lead the way in Ligue 1 after defeating SM Caen 4-2.
The match was tighter than the result might suggest after Jerry Van Dam brought the score back to 3-2 with eight minutes left. Caen had taken the lead through Thomas Heurtaux (12) but PSG pulled clear courtesy of two Nenê penalties (10, 76) and Jérémy Ménez's effort (55). Javier Pastore steadied home nerves with two minutes remaining.
Montpellier Hérault SC are three points back thanks to a 2-0 defeat of AS Nancy-Lorraine, Olivier Giroud (61) and Souleymane Camara (74) ensuring a third consecutive league win – and eighth overall – for René Girard's charges. Olympique Lyonnais are up to third thanks to a 2-0 defeat of AS Saint-Étienne, Jimmy Briand and Yoann Gourcuff scoring the goals in the last ten minutes.
Meanwhile, Olympique de Marseille warmed up for their UEFA Champions League trip to Arsenal FC on Tuesday by defeating Dijon FCO 3-2, Alou Diarra (82) settling things after the home side had rallied from 2-0 down.
FC Girondins de Bordeaux, Stade Brestois 29 and Évian Thonon Gaillard FC were the other victorious sides, while Olympique Lyonnais and AS Saint-Étienne are contesting the late fixture.
