Athletic Club earned coach Marcelo Bielsa his first home Liga victory – and second overall – on Monday night by beating CA Osasuna 3-1.

Athletic's Gorka Iraizoz was the busier goalkeeper for much of the first half yet Osasuna still went in three goals down at the interval. Athletic broke the deadlock after 29 minutes when Iker Muniain, teed up by Fernando Llorente, struck from 11 metres. Igor Gabilondo made it 2-0 with a powerful close-range finish after 37 minutes and, on the stroke of half-time, it was three as Javi Martínez headed in from Andoni Iraola's cross.

Osasuna finished a man short with Roland Lamah sent off for a second bookable offence in the 70th minute, but pulled a goal back through Javad Nekounam's late penalty. Bielsa's men, who face FC Salzburg in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, had started the day in 16th with just one Liga win from six but ended it five places better off, with Osasuna dropping one position to 15th.
