Paris Saint-Germain FC have moved to the top of the Ligue 1 standings alongside Olympique Lyonnais following a 3-0 away victory against early pacesetters Montpellier Hérault SC.
Montpellier needed at least a point to retain a share of the league lead but found themselves leapfrogged by their visitors, as Kevin Gameiro (39) and Javier Pastore (43, 80) scored in a 3-0 win. Gameiro collected his fifth goal of the season when he met Nêne's precise cross from the left and French football's record signing Pastore doubled the advantage two minutes before half-time, after being picked out by Siaka Tiéné. The Argentinian scored again when he pounced on a mistake by goalkeeper Geoffrey Jourdren.
PSG move a point above Montpellier, and level with Olympique Lyonnais on points and goal difference after Rémi Garde's side overcame FC Girondins de Bordeaux 3-1, thanks to Bafétimbi Gomis's double and Michel Bastos's effort. Like the top two, Toulouse also moved on to 17 points with a 1-0 win against AS Nancy-Lorraine, who were undone by Umut Bulut's strike.
Joe Cole notched his first Ligue 1 goal only for FC Lorient's Kévin Monnet-Paquet to deny his LOSC Lille Métropole side a win with an added-time equaliser, while Franck Dja Djedje and José Saez both followed suit with respective last-gasp levellers for OGC Nice and Valenciennes FC that pegged Dijon FCO and Olympique de Marseille back to 1-1 draws. Elsewhere, SM Caen earned their fourth league triumph of the campaign, sinking Évian Thonon Gaillard FC 4-2.
