Toulouse FC joined Montpellier Hérault SC at the Ligue 1 summit in dramatic fashion but the results have left the door open for Olympique Lyonnais to go top on Sunday.

Montpellier were a point clear of Lyon when the weekend fixtures began and went 2-0 up at Stade Brestois 29 through two first-half Olivier Giroud goals. However, substitute Eden Ben Basat pulled one back with 20 minutes left and only two remained when Santiago Gentiletti equalised for Brest, who held on for their fifth draw in six games this season despite Tripy Makonda's late dismissal.

That allowed Toulouse to join Montpellier on 13 points, but only just. FC Girondins de Bordeaux themselves let slip a two-goal lead against Toulouse, who completed a 3-2 victory with a last-gasp strike from substitute Emmanuel Rivière.

Ten-man LOSC Lille Métropole could also have caught the pacesetters but drew 2-2 with FC Sochaux-Montbéliard after twice leading. Les Dogues had Mathieu Debuchy sent off ten minutes into the second half. Lyon, however, will be top if they win in the pick of Sunday's three games against struggling Olympique de Marseille.

Also victorious on Saturday – in comfortable style – were FC Lorient, who went fifth, and OGC Nice and Valenciennes FC, who secured their first wins of the campaign.
