Domestic transfer round-up

Craig Bellamy has returned to Liverpool FC four years after leaving the club. The full terms of the deal for the 32-year-old, who scored seven Premier League goals in 27 appearances in his sole season at Anfield in 2006/07, have not been released. Bellamy took time out from Wales' preparations for the UEFA EURO 2012 qualifier with Montenegro to finalise his release from Manchester City FC.

Liverpool have also completed the signing of centre-back Sebastián Coates on a long-term contract from Club Nacional in his native Uruguay. The 20-year-old is looking forward to linking up with countryman Luis Suárez at Anfield after the pair starred in Uruguay’s Copa América triumph this summer. "Luis told me about the history and the tradition of the club and now I feel very happy and excited to be here because I have left one great club in Nacional and signed for another great club with a fantastic history,” Coates said.

AS Roma have added to their squad with the addition of Bosnia and Herzegovina playmaker Miralem Pjanić from Olympique Lyonnais for a reported fee of €10m. The 21-year-old, who started his career in Luxembourg before joining FC Metz in 2004, signed for Lyon four years later and played over 100 competitive games with the French side.

He has penned a four-year contract with the Giallorossi, who have also acquired Denmark centre-back Simon Kjær − who previously played in Serie A with US Città di Palermo − Fernando Gago and Fabio Borini on season-long loans from Wolfsburg, Real Madrid CF and Parma FC respectively. The Lupi have the option to turn these into permanent transfers next summer.

Eljero Elia, meanwhile, said he has moved to "the biggest club in Italy" after penning a four-year deal with Roma's domestic rivals, Juventus. The Bianconeri have paid Hamburger SV €9m for the 24-year-old Netherlands winger.

Brøndby IF have secured the services of Danish international winger Dennis Rommedahl on a two-year contract. "There will be heavy pressure on me when I return home after so many years abroad, but I am ready to prove that I am good enough and that is a great motivation for me", said the 33-year-old winger.

Right-back Massimo Oddo has left AC Milan to join US Lecce on loan for the season. The 35-year-old, a member of the Italy squad which won the 2006 FIFA World Cup, joined Milan in January 2007 and helped the Rossoneri to UEFA Champions League success later that year. Lecce have also signed Manuel Giandonato and Cristian Pasquato on loan from Juventus.

Celtic FC have bolstered their defensive numbers by bringing in Morocco left-back Badr El Kaddouri on loan. Manager Neil Lennon has the option to buy the 30-year-old from Ukrainian Premier League club FC Dynamo Kyiv when his loan deal expires in January.

On Tuesday, meanwhile, Celtic signed Mohamed Bangura from AIK Solna for an undisclosed fee. The Sierra Leone striker, 22, signed a four-year deal after scoring 13 goals in 33 league games in his one season at AIK. Lennon said: "We believe Mohamed is a player of real quality and someone who has the potential to make a big contribution." Bangura added: "I am delighted to be joining a club the size of Celtic."

Getafe CF have re-signed midfielder Pedro León on a year-long loan 12 months after selling him to Real Madrid CF. The 24-year-old moved to the Santiago Bernabéu for €10m from the Azulones, making 14 appearances under José Mourinho. Getafe will have the option to buy the former Spanish Under-21 international when the loan expires.

Aleksandr Hleb is looking forward to working with Felix Magath again after moving to VfL Wolfsburg on loan from FC Barcelona until 31 December. The Belarus midfielder played for the Wolves' coach while at VfB Stuttgart from 2001 to 2004. "I'm very happy about my return to the Bundesliga and renewing acquaintances with Felix Magath," said the 30-year-old former Arsenal FC player, who is recovering from meniscus surgery he underwent in June. "Now my main aim is to get into the team as fast as I can in order to be able to help them on the pitch."

Wolfsburg have also drafted in Sweden striker Rasmus Jönsson from Helsingborgs IF. The 21-year-old leaves the Swedish league leaders as the club's top scorer with nine goals. Jönsson, who has signed a four-year contract, said: "I'm incredibly grateful that Helsingborg gave me this chance, it's too good an opportunity to say no to. The Bundesliga is one of the best leagues in Europe but I hope to be able to play for Helsingborg again in the future."

Ligue 1 debutants Évian Thonon Gaillard have signed Liverpool midfielder Christian Poulsen. The 31-year-old Danish international has agreed a 12-month deal and will gain experience of his sixth different league having played in the past for FC København, FC Schalke 04, Sevilla FC and Juventus.

Italian international full-back Davide Santon has joined Newcastle United FC on a five-year deal. Newcastle are believed to have paid FC Internazionale Milano a fee of around €5.6m for the 20-year-old, who spent part of last season on loan at AC Cesena. "I am really pleased to sign for Newcastle," said Santon. "The chance to play in the Premier League and in front of 50,000 fans at St James' Park was too good to turn down."

Another club who have signed an Inter player, Samuel Eto'o's new home FC Anzhi Makhachkala, completed their business with the addition of R. Standard de Liège midfielder Mehdi Carcela-González. Capped once by Morocco, the 22-year-old has agreed a deal until the end of 2014 after turning down the likes of  FC Spartak Moskva, Udinese Calcio and Sporting Clube de Portugal. "I want to underline I considered only one option in Russia – FC Anzhi Makhachkala as my friend and role model Mbark Boussouffa plays here," he explained after joining the fifth-placed side. "I will be happy to play alongside him again."
