FC Bayern München rounded off an impressive week with a third successive victory and clean sheet in all competitions as Borussia Dortmund also made it two wins out of three at the start of the Bundesliga season.
Bayern, 2-0 victors against FC Zürich in their UEFA Champions League play-off first leg on Wednesday, were three up by half-time against Hamburger SV thanks to Daniel Van Buyten, Franck Ribéry and Arjen Robben. Mario Gomez and Ivica Olić rounded off the scoring for a 5-0 win. Bayern won the corresponding fixture 6-0 last term.
Strikes from Robert Lewandowski and Kevin Grosskreutz earned Dortmund a 2-0 victory against 1. FC Nürnberg, a scoreline TSG 1899 Hoffenheim replicated at FC Augsburg. Hoffenheim are joined on six points by Bayer 04 Leverkusen − who prevailed 1-0 at VfB Stuttgart − and SV Werder Bremen, 5-3 winners against SC Freiburg courtesy of two late goals.
