Juventus swoop for Roma striker Vučinić

Serie A side Juventus have continued their active summer recruitment campaign by completing the €15m capture of Montenegro captain Mirko Vučinić from AS Roma.

Serie A side Juventus have continued their busy summer recruitment drive by acquiring Montenegro captain Mirko Vučinić from AS Roma for €15m.

Vučinić has agreed a four-year contract with the Bianconeri, who have been active in the transfer market in a bid to improve upon a disappointing league campaign which resulting in them falling short of qualification for UEFA competition.

The 27-year-old striker first came to Italy at the age of 16, leaving his first club FK Sutjeska Nikšić to join US Lecce. During his six years in Puglia – five seasons in Serie A and one in Serie B – he played 111 league games and scored 34 goals.

The four-time Montenegrin player of the year registered a further 46 strikes in 147 Serie A matches for Roma, the club he joined in 2006, helping the Giallorossi win the Coppa Italia twice. Vučinić has also scored 11 goals in 23 appearances for Montenegro.

Juventus, now coached by former midfielder Antonio Conte, have already bolstered their squad over the last two months by adding Andrea Pirlo, Michele Pazienza, Reto Ziegler, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Arturo Vidal to their number.
