Videoton FC have won the Hungarian Super Cup after a 1-0 victory against Kecskeméti TE.
Champions Videoton, who had Zoltán Lipták sent off midway through the second half, were denied the double last season thanks to a 3-2 defeat by Kecskeméti but turned the tables on the cup holders thanks to a brilliant solo effort from André Alves six minutes from time.
It was the first time the Szekesfehervar side have won the Super Cup and also marked a successful first game at the helm for Paolo Sousa. "Every game is difficult, especially the cup finals," said the Portuguese coach, whose side came under intense pressure following the red card. "The hot weather was also an obstacle but we adjusted better."
Videoton will play their first UEFA Champions League tie on Wednesday when they travel to SK Sturm Graz for their second qualifying round first leg while Kecskeméti host FC Aktobe in the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round first leg on Thursday.
