Domenico Di Carlo has returned for a second spell as coach of Serie A side AC Chievo Verona, following an ill-fated stint at UC Sampdoria last season.
The 47-year-old won plenty of acclaim as he led low-budget Chievo to respectable mid-table finishes between 2008 and 2010, but fared poorly at Sampdoria. His team lost out to SV Werder Bremen in the UEFA Champions League play-offs and failed to progress beyond the group stage of the UEFA Europa League. The former US Città di Palermo and Vicenza Calcio defensive midfielder was dismissed in March, before the Genoa outfit went on to be relegated.
Di Carlo fills the berth at Chievo left vacant by Stefano Pioli's departure for Palermo. He has signed a two-year contract with the Verona club who finished 11th in Serie A.
