Aston Villa FC goalkeeper Brad Friedel has agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur FC.
Tottenham have released no contract details for the 40-year-old, whose deal with Aston Villa was due to expire at the end of the month. The former United States international is one of the Premier League's most experienced goalkeepers after first turning out for Liverpool FC in the 1997/98 season. He went on to play 288 top-flight games at Blackburn Rovers FC and has spent the last three campaigns at Villa.
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp said: "Brad is a top goalkeeper of real quality who has great experience. It is good to have three such experienced top goalkeepers at the club in [Heurelho] Gomes, Carlo [Cudicini] and now Brad and it means we have competition for places." Tottenham finished fifth in England and enter next season's UEFA Europa League in the play-off round.
