FK Mogren have clinched the Montenegrin First League, finishing above FK Budućnost Podgorica on head-to-head record.
Mogren and Budućnost Podgorica were level on 70 points going into Saturday's final round of the season and beat visitors FK Mornar and FK Sutjeska, by 2-0 and 3-0 respectively, to remain tied. Mogren, whose goals came from Radoslav Batak and Igor Matić, were awarded the title after winning two and losing one of their three meetings with their rivals during the campaign.
"We have had a lot of tough matches recently, we have had a lot of injuries and we lost the cup final [5-4 on penalties to FK Rudar Pljevlja] three days ago," said Mogren coach Branislav Milačić. "So I was a bit afraid my players would be tired and emotionally unprepared for a must-win game. I congratulate them on a very important victory and a big success. I also thank them for giving me the pleasure of being Montenegrin champions."
Saša Petrović, whose team made sure they pushed the champions all the way thanks to goals from Ivan Vuković, Dragan Bošković and Stefan Mugoša, was gracious after narrowly missing out. "Mogren deserved the title, they were top most of the season," he said.
