The Danish Football Association (DBU) has revealed plans to use the power of social networking site Facebook as part of its agenda for UEFA Grassroots Day.
Speaking to UEFA.com, the head of the DBU's children and youth department, Steen Jørgensen, said: "Last year we had a campaign where we arranged for national team players to visit grassroots clubs before the World Cup in South Africa.
"This year we won't have that opportunity, but instead we thought of a campaign where we use Facebook to give everybody the chance to upload pictures and film clips of how they played football that day, on Wednesday 25 May. So we're doing a Facebook campaign, that's our plan at the moment, in order to focus on grassroots football."
In June, Denmark will host the UEFA European Under-21 Championship with a number of grassroots activities organised to coincide with the event, many of which will take place at the venue fan zones before and after matches. A busy period for grassroots football is expected, with UEFA Grassroots Day helping set the tone.
"Europe-wide I think it's very important," said Jørgensen. "You can see how important it is in countries where grassroots football is very successful already, but of course we would like to use this opportunity to launch a campaign when UEFA says we can do that."
